Nintendo had one surprise saved for the end, and nobody expected it to be Kirby. During the September Nintendo Direct, the company closed the presentation by announcing Kirby and the World Beyond, a new 3D adventure coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 in spring 2027.
The announcement was surprising because many people expected news from other major franchises. Instead, Kirby returned to the spotlight with a project that appears to push the formula of Kirby and the Forgotten Land even further.

Nintendo Switch 2 takes center stage
The launch also shows that Nintendo is using Nintendo Switch 2 to push new experiences within its best-known franchises.
