Xbox surprises with two big announcements

Xbox is changing the way we play, and this week it proved it again

If someone had told you a few years ago that you could play Xbox games directly from a TV, without a console, you probably wouldn't have believed them. But little by little, that idea is becoming a reality.

This week, Xbox made two announcements that go exactly in that direction. The first benefits those who enjoy playing on both console and PC, thanks to a new collaboration with Ubisoft. The second confirms that some Hisense TVs will be able to run the Xbox app to play from the cloud.

They are not announcements as flashy as a new Halo or Forza, but they are changes that can make the way we play every day much easier.

If you have Ubisoft games on Xbox, you can now also enjoy them on PC

One of the best pieces of news came from Ubisoft.

From now on, some players who have already purchased certain Ubisoft games digitally for Xbox will also be able to access their PC version via Ubisoft Connect, without having to buy them again.

Compatible titles include Assassin's Creed Mirage, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6, The Crew Motorfest, and other games from the Ubisoft catalog.

It's a change that makes a lot of sense. More and more people are switching between console and computer, and being able to continue the same adventure without paying twice is exactly the kind of benefit many have been asking for.

Hisense TVs join the Xbox ecosystem

The other big news was confirmed by Asha Sharma, head of Xbox.

Hisense TVs compatible with VIDAA will incorporate the Xbox application, allowing access to Xbox Cloud Gaming without the need for a connected console.

In practice, all that will be needed is a compatible controller, a good internet connection, and a Game Pass Ultimate subscription to start playing.

This is another step in Xbox's strategy to bring its games to more devices. It no longer matters so much where you play, but that you can do it in the way that is most comfortable for you.

Xbox is committed to giving players more options

If these new developments made anything clear, it's that Xbox wants to make gaming easier and easier.

On the one hand, it removes barriers between console and PC thanks to its alliance with Ubisoft. On the other, it turns a compatible TV into a gateway to hundreds of games through the cloud.

Perhaps these announcements do not generate the same enthusiasm as the presentation of a new console, but they do show where Xbox is heading. And, to be honest, having more ways to play and more freedom to access our library always ends up being good news for gamers.
