Xbox continues to improve its users' experience with new updates for its consoles. The company has begun rolling out a new update in August that incorporates several features aimed at facilitating the management of games, saved games, and content.
The update began rolling out on August 12, 2026 and brings together six new features that had previously been tested by members of the Xbox Insiders program.
You can now recover previous saved games
One of the most interesting new features is related to cloud saves.
Xbox allows you to consult different synchronized versions of a game and recover a previous version if something goes wrong.
For now, this feature is available for Forza Horizon 6, although Microsoft has confirmed that other games may incorporate it later.
This can be especially useful if a game becomes corrupted or if the player needs to revert to an earlier point in their progress.
Play in the cloud while the game updates
Another quite practical function allows you to start playing via Xbox Cloud Gaming while a game continues to download or install an update on the console.
If the title is compatible with cloud gaming and is part of the corresponding catalog, the user can start playing via streaming while the download continues in the background.
In other words: it will no longer be necessary to stare at a progress bar to be able to play again.
Xbox 360 receives improvements to its information
Players who still enjoy Xbox 360 classics will also find new features.
The pages for these games now have specific sections where you can consult information related to:
- Achievements obtained.
- Screenshots.
- Cloud save synchronization.
In addition, the achievement notifications for these games have received improvements.
The update also incorporates certain achievements from Windows Phone games into the profile's achievement history.
The wishlist now supports up to 1,000 games
Another improvement is related to the Xbox wishlist.
From now on, players can save up to 1,000 games, including both titles that are already available and upcoming releases.
For those who tend to add many games to their list to track prices or future news, this increase represents a significant improvement.
Better information about games included in Game Pass
Xbox has also improved the installation management page.
A badge now appears that allows you to identify if a game or any of its additional content is available through Game Pass.
This makes it easier to know what content depends on the subscription and what items belong to the user independently.
Bug fixes also arrive
The update is not limited to adding features.
Microsoft has also fixed an issue that could cause unexpected crashes while users scrolled through the Games & apps menu.
Although this type of fix may go unnoticed, it contributes to improving the overall stability of the console.
Xbox maintains its update pace
One of the most striking things is that Microsoft has been launching new features for Xbox quite frequently for several months now.
The company began 2026 by reinforcing this pace of updates and, in recent months, has continued to incorporate improvements that go beyond simple technical corrections.
The new August update shows that Xbox continues to work on small details that can end up having a significant impact on players' daily experience.
