Tokyo Game Show 2026 Kicks Off With a First Day Full of Games, Nostalgia, and New Announcements

Some gaming events feel like just another presentation, and then there is the Tokyo Game Show. Today, September 17, the 2026 edition officially began at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, and from the very first day it was clear this will be a special edition: for the first time, the event will run for five days, through September 21.

The first day was reserved for industry professionals and press, but that did not mean there was any shortage of action. Major studios began showing their projects, while attendees were able to get close to demos, stages, and experiences that will be available throughout the event.

One of the biggest attractions was the presence of SEGA and ATLUS, which prepared activities related to franchises such as Persona, along with demonstrations and presentations of upcoming releases.

There was also room for titles such as Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, which received a special Koei Tecmo presentation, alongside other projects looking to capture attention during the show.

And of course, nostalgia had a place too. SNK introduced the new NEOGEO AES+, a refreshed version of its classic console that even surprised attendees by including Zero Wing, a game that was not originally part of the Neo Geo catalog.

But this is only the beginning. Tokyo Game Show 2026 still has four days ahead, including the days open to the public.

And perhaps that is the best part: the first day only gave us a small taste of everything TGS has prepared.

¿Que será lo próximo que nos sorprenda de la
Tokyo Game Show 2026?
